Unified Modeling Language (UML)

The Unified Modeling Language (UML) is a visual modeling language general purpose used to specify, visualize, construct and document the artifacts of a software system. UML captures information on the static structure and the dynamic behavior of the system. A system is modeled as a collection of discrete objects that interact to perform work that ultimately benefits an external user. First of all, UML is not a programming language. It can be used to write programs, but lacks the syntactic and semantic facilities that provide most programming languages to facilitate programming task.
